COMPLETING A MEDIATOR CERTIFICATION COURSE

WHAT ARE SOME OF REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPLETING A MEDIATION CERTIFICATION COURSE?

There are a number of course requirements including attendance for the entire course; participation in a number of mediation roleplays including once as the mediator and once as a party; completion of the required readings; drafting a mediation agreement; completion of certain court financial forms (in the Family Mediation Certification Training only)

DO I HAVE TO TAKE A TEST AT THE END OF THE COURSE?

There is no final exam in the course.

ARE THERE ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME CERTIFIED AS A MEDIATOR BY THE FLORIDA SUPREME COURT?

Yes, the Florida Supreme Court has established additional requirements for mediator certification. You can learn more about the requirements here .

DO YOU PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH COMPLETING MEDIATION OBSERVATION AND CO-MEDIATION MENTORSHIP REQUIREMENTS?

Yes, we help mediators connect with some Florida Court Mediation Programs to schedule family and dependency mediation observations in various locations around the state at no cost to the mediator. Some of the Court Mediation Program directors and mediators teach in our courses, and often we can provide a mediation observation sign up sheet on the last day of class so that course graduates may be able to begin observing mediation sessions shortly after the course is completed.


ARE ALL MEDIATION CERTIFICATION COURSES HELD ONLINE?

Currently all My Florida Mediator mediation certification courses are offered online via Zoom. Please see our Guide for Online Course Participants for more details.

IS THERE AN EXTRA CHARGE FOR REQUIRED COURSE BOOKS OR MATERIALS?

No, the registration fee includes all required course materials. We also make many of our materials available online prior to the course start date, and paid course registrants are welcome to download course materials and review the reading materials before the course begins. We also provide supplemental course information online which can be downloaded for free or, if desired, can be purchased directly from our printer.

IS FAMILY MEDIATION CERTIFICATION TRAINING A REQUIREMENT TO BE COME A PARENTING COORDINATOR OR ELDERCARING COORDINATOR?

Yes, completion of Family Mediation Certification Training is a requirement for professionals wanting to qualify as a Parenting Coordinator or Eldercaring Coordinator in Florida. In addition, a Parent Coordinator must also take a Parenting Coordination Course approved by the Florida Supreme Court and meet other requirements spelled out in Florida Statute 61.125. Similarly, an Eldercaring Coordinator must also complete an Eldercaring Coordinator Training program certified by the Florida Supreme Court and meet other requirements spelled out in FS. 44.407


DO YOU PROVIDE ONLINE MEDIATION CERTIFICATION TRAINING?

Yes, the Florida Supreme Court allows mediation certification training to be taught online. The Court also allows online mediation training to be credited toward meeting some of the continuing mediator education requirements.
