You can follow these steps to convert a fraction to a percent using division:

  1. Divide the numerator of the fraction by the denominator.
  2. Multiply the result by 100 to get the percentage value.

Example:
Let’s convert the fraction 3/4 to a percentage:
Step 1: Divide 3 by 4: 3 ÷ 4 = 0.75
Step 2: Multiply the result by 100: 0.75 × 100 = 75
Therefore, the fraction 3/4 is equivalent to 75%.

In general, to convert any fraction to a percentage, you divide the numerator by the denominator, multiply the result by 100, and add the “%” symbol to represent the percent value.

If the fraction has a denominator which is a factor of 100 (2,4,5,10,20,25,50) then you may want to use the equivalent fraction method.

  1. Find an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 100.
  2. The numerator of the equivalent fraction represents the percent value.

Example:
Convert the fraction 2/5 to a percent using an equivalent fraction:
Step 1: Find an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 100. In this case, we can multiply the numerator and denominator by 20 to get an equivalent fraction with a denominator of 100.
2/5 = (2 × 20) / (5 × 20) = 40/100
Step 2: The numerator of the equivalent fraction represents the percent value. So, the percent value is 40%. Therefore, the fraction 2/5 is equivalent to 40%.
